Filmmaking Summer Program for Girls and Non-Binary Youth
WANT TO FEEL EMPOWERED WITH SKILLS TO CREATE YOUR OWN MEDIA, TO VIEW MEDIA CRITICALLY AND THOUGHTFULLY AND BE A LEADER BY USING MEDIA TO INSPIRE?
Reel Stories offers Summer and Year Round Filmmaking Program for girls and non-binary youth in Middle School and High School. Discover your voice and express your point of view in a powerful and thoughtful way via film. Learn how media affects you and those around you and how you can take control of it. Become a leader in a world where young women and non-binary youth consume 9 hours* of media per day. You’ll be amazed by your newfound ability to analyze, evaluate, and create powerful and meaningful media.
Summer programs begin with media literacy training as well as leadership and team building. Film workshops are held throughout the program to teach you the skills needed to create your own film. Insider lectures are given by professional filmmakers who have worked in the media industry for decades, including Oscar nominees and winners. Editing of your film takes place the last 3 days of the program and debuted at a local theater open to the public!
During this two week program, participants will work together in small, collaborative groups to write, shoot, edit and broadcast their own short films. Groups are determined by age & skill level. Returning filmmakers will participate in advanced film and media workshops. Reel Stories is the only female owned & run filmmaking media program in the country led by professionals in the industry. We believe that the power of individual stories brought to life on-screen has the power to diversify and strengthen the filmmaking industry – remember, The Present is Female. Join us this summer to show the world your stories, your audience is waiting!
